Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney graduated in 1995 and produced a final year collection which was snapped up by the likes of Joseph, Bergdorf Goodman, and Neiman Marcus. It was no surprise when she launched her own line straight after leaving college.

Born in 1971 in London, she quickly developed a style of sharp tailoring mixed with humour and a feminine, sexy touch. In 1997, with only two collections in her career at the time, she was named the creative director of the house of Chloe in Paris.

Her work here attracted widespread acclaim and Chloes commercial success improved significantly. In particular her collections and advertising campaigns caught the eye.

She went on to win the VH1/Vogue Fashion and Music 2000 Designer of the year award and then launched her own fashion house in April 2001 after leaving Chloe and partnering with Gucci Group.

In 2003 she launched a perfume which came after a spring and summer collection launched in Paris in 2001. By 2002 she was releasing a collaboration of handmade T-shirts and dresses alongside Gary Hume in Paris.
