Revlon began as a single product, but has grown into a huge range of cosmetics since its inception.
Started in 1932 as a new type of nail enamel, the company had become a multimillion dollar empire within six years, and this during the Great Depression! By the start of the Second World War, Revlon s range had expanded to include a total manicure product and lipstick, and during the war, they added to this with the supply of makeup and related products to the US Army.
They launched their first fragrance, Charlie, in 1973, marketed as a fragrance to suit the working woman s budget. On the back of the success of Charlie, Revlon launched a number of other relatively low cost eau de parfums including Charlie Red; Charlie Gold; Flair; Fire Ice Cool; Jean Nate and Xia Xang, with the Charlie Range especially, still being extremely popular today.
