The French fashion legend joined Christian Dior in 1946 but left to start up on his own three years later.

His style was defined by his geometric designs which are said to ignore the female shape.

He was the first designer of his type to offer ready-to-wear clothes in a boutique and was also the first to offer his clothing in department stores.

His name also appeared on a number of lifestyle goods – also a Cardin first.

Pierre Cardin Monsieur, his first fragrance, arrived in 1972 and other releases include Rose Cardin (1990), Enigme (1993), Insatiable (1995), and Revelation (2004).
