Lacoste is a Paris based apparel company, founded in 1933, by French tennis player Rene Lacoste and Andre Giller, selling high quality clothing, eyewear, perfume, footwear and leather goods.
Rene Lacoste was nicknamed The Alligator by the American press after an incident involving an alligator skin suitcase. Lacoste s friend Robert George drew a picture of an alligator which he then had embroidered onto the blazer worn by Lacoste on the tennis courts. This went on to be the Lacoste logo, embroidered on all their sportswear and is said to be the first instance of a logo appearing on clothing.
In 1984 Lacoste launched an elegant and fresh eau de toilette, Lacoste Pour Homme. It was marketed as the fragrance for all sportsmen with a winning attitude, comprising a classic, natural fragrance.
Lacoste has gone on to create a large range of perfumes for women, including Dream of Pink; Lacoste Inspiration; Lacoste Pour Femme; Touch of Pink; Touch of Spring and Touch of Sun.
