Jil Sander first emerged in the 1980s, producing a distinct look for business women.
A German fashion designer in the minimalist mould, she put together a setup of the form-fitting coat, cut pantsuit, or slim blouse in plain grey materials, or alternatively black, blue or white that could be worn as one or separately.
There understated approach meant she gained many nicknames, including Master of Minimalism, Queen of Less and Fashion Reductionist.
The creativity did not stop at clothes and she went on to develop perfumes and aftershaves which have proved equally as popular as her clothing styles. |
