Donna Karan was born to parents who were both of the fashion world, and she followed in their footsteps when she became the successor to Anne Klein after Klein died in the mid 1970s.
Eventually she formed her own modern apparel and accessories corporation, DKNY, with her late husband, Stephan Weiss.
She was inspired by her daughter, Gabby in many of her products and she set herself the target of combining comfort and luxury that would appeal to her target audience. Karan believed that whatever she created began and ended with the body, leading inevitably to the creation of a line of perfume.
